CCN Council
Under the CCN Constitution each member authority is entitled to nominate up to 4 elected members to serve on the CCN Council. Top up places are used to ensure political proportionality using the LGA Rallings and Thrasher model for county authorities.
Following the local elections in June 2009 the current number of places per political group is:
Conservative: 110
Liberal Democrats: 31
Labour: 14
Independent: 11
The AGM of the Council elects the CCN Office holders. The CCN Chairman is chosen by an annual postal ballot of the entire CCN membership. In addition the AGM elects a Vice Chairman for each of the political groups in membership of the CCN. The Council meets on at least one further occasion each year to approve the accounts, appoint an auditor, agree the CCN budget, set subscriptions and approve the work programme.
The Chairman of the CCN Council is Councillor Tim Palmer.
