Stephen Giles-Medhurst bio

Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst, Transport and Infrastructure Spokesman 

Stephen has been a Hertfordshire County Councillor (Central Watford & Oxhey Division) since 2001 and is leader of the Liberal Democrat Group and the official opposition since 2012, and the Lib Dems’ lead on Highways.

He has been a Three Rivers District Councillor since 2000 (Leavesden ward) and a Lead member since then. Currently Lead member for Transport and Economic Development. Also an Abbots Langley Parish Councillor (Leavesden ward) since 2008, served as Chair twice and current Vice-Chair.

Stephen is formally a London Borough of Harrow Councillor (1978-98) where he served as a Committee Chair and was Mayor 1995-96.  Also served on the London Fire and Rescue Authority 1994-98.

After a 35 year varied career in the Civil Service he took voluntary early retirement in 2010 when he was at the time Head of Customs at Stansted Airport.

He is married to Kevin (2017), two children and ten grandchildren.
