Cllr Carl Les, Finance Spokesperson for the County Councils Network, said:

“The allocations of the latest round of Covid Local Support Grant is a vote of confidence in county and unitary authorities, who have proven they have effectively targeted support to both individuals who need assistance for food and energy bills, and to community groups who make a difference in their areas.

“Councils are best placed to distribute this funding as they know their communities best, and we are pleased that the government is continuing to back county and unitary authorities who have shown real localism in working at the heart of their local areas during the pandemic.

“Local partnerships will be crucial to this funding reaching all those who need it, and counties will be working with district partners and voluntary groups to make sure funds are distributed effectively.”
