New report highlights county authorities' role in economic recovery

A new report released today by the County Councils Network (CCN) highlights the crucial role county authorities have played - and will continue to play - in economic growth.

This new publication, County Spotlight, is the first of several to be published this year, focusing on the innovative and excellent work from CCN's member councils, and to share best practice within a particular theme.

Released on the eve of the Levelling Up White Paper, the County Spotlight's first-ever theme is on economic growth. Featuring new insights from both the CCN and Grant Thornton, this document showcases 16 case studies on economic growth from county authorities across the country.

The case studies are focused on four themes:

• Short-term economic recovery initiatives
• Long-term economic recovery plans
• Helping communities back to their feet
• Climate change and regeneration
