Following the local elections on May 1st where 21 County Councils Network (CCN) member councils were up for election, the CCN’s political proportionality has now been updated and independently verified.
The new CCN political balance, as of May 8, is now as follows:
In line with the Local Government Association and CCN constitutions, as the party with the largest relative majority, the Conservative group will retain the CCN Chair position.
Any political grouping who has more than 5% of the weighted electorate in CCN member council areas is entitled to form a group.
As Reform UK meets this threshold, the party will be invited to form a group on CCN and will be allocated positions on the network’s Executive and Council. Councillors on CCN Executive have specific portfolios and act as the network’s spokespeople.
The new CCN Executive will be elected at the network’s annual general meeting on 10th September.
As a strong cross-party network, representing the interests of county and unitary authorities across England, we will be working closely with and supporting all councillors and new administrations as they navigate these first few weeks in office.
